This � <br /> appeared to be backfill material also A portion of the core was <br /> sealed & preserved per WJH field protocol described earlier The <br /> core assembly was cleaned with TSP, & double rinsed with clean <br /> water_ It was filled with clean metal tubes, and set aside until <br /> needed <br /> Augers were advanced to 10' ; a petroleum odor was noted in some <br /> of the drill cutting returns The core barrel was lowered into <br /> the augers & Ft�re was taken from 10' to 11 ' 6" - Recovery <br /> consisted of of brown to gray silty clay loam -- apparent <br /> backfill mat A slight petroleum odor was noted, but there <br /> was no visable evidence o iscoloration or staining One of the <br /> metal tubes was sealed and preserved per WJH protocol. The core <br /> barrel assembly was thoroughly cleaned as described above <br /> The augers were advanced to 5' drill returns consisted <br /> primarily of dark gray clay am -- apparent backfill material- <br /> Some <br /> aterial_Some petroleum odor was noted in cuttings_ A core was taken from <br /> 15' to 16' 6" ; recovery consisted of 9 ' of black loam & dark gray <br /> . clay, fairly soft & unconsolidated - probably backfill material <br /> A sI ight L5-noted, but there was no visible <br /> evidence of staining, discoloration, or free product A portion <br /> of the core was sealed and preserved as described above The <br /> core assembly was decontaminated as noted above. <br /> The augers were advanced to 0' drill cuttings were primarily <br /> black sticky loam with occasional faint_petroleum—odors A core <br /> was taken from 20 ' to 21 ' 6" ; recovery consisted of 12" of clay & <br /> sticky loam, brown to dark gray, crumbly but not plastic <br /> Appeared to be transition from backfill to native soil A slight <br /> eL aleum odor was noted at the the UQre. but none at the <br /> bottom A portion of the core was sealed and preserved as above. <br /> The coring assembly was cleaned as described earlier, filled with <br /> clean metal tubes, and set aside until needed <br /> The augers were advanced to�, drill cuttings consisted of tan <br /> to brown to gray silty clay, similar to that encountered in prior <br /> soil borings A core was taken from 25' to 26' 6" , recovery <br /> consisted of 8 ' of tan to brown to gray clay, very firm & dense, <br /> slightly plastic, containing some black organic material . No <br /> odona-were noted_ A portion of the core was sealed & preserved � <br /> per WJH field protocol The core barrel was cleaned and prepared <br /> for use. <br /> Drilling continued to3 ' . cutting returns below 26' were pr3- - <br /> marily dark brown to plastic clay; faint petroleum odors <br /> were noted in some cuttings, but no visible staining or d�scolor- <br /> 8 <br />
