A portion of the core was sealed and preserved, and <br /> the coring assembly decontaminated and filled with clean metal <br /> tubes <br /> The augers were advanced to 35' ; drill cuttings were tan to brown <br /> sticky clay that ball up into 1/4" - 1 t pellet shaped material <br /> A core was taken from 35' to 36' 61" ; it consisted of 15" of very <br /> silty sand, dark tan to brown, soft & mOlst. Some dark mineral <br /> grains were noted, but there was no discernable bedding_ There <br /> was no /odor or visable discoloration <br /> The augers were advanced to 40' ; drill cuttings consisted of tan <br /> to light brown silty clay as above A core was taken from 40 ' to <br /> 41 ' 6" , recovery was 13" of tan to light brown silty clay, firm <br /> but not dense, & very slightly plastic. No odorsoeor evidence of <br /> contamination was noted A portion of the cone material was <br /> preserved per WJH protocol; the core barrel assembly was cleaned <br /> and prepared for use. <br /> • Drilling continued to 45' , drill Cuttings simi] ar to t hose <br /> described above A core was taken from 45' to 46' 6 ' ; recovery ' <br /> was 1.5" of dark brown silty sand grading to mottled brown to gra <br /> clay Some rust colored, (apronrioy <br /> tions <br /> of the clays, and the sand containedaabundant s old c to ed flake <br /> Of mica orgold colored flakes <br /> Pyrite_ There were no/odors or visible staining <br /> The augurs were advanced to 50' ; drill cuttings consisted of <br /> silty clay and silty sand. The final core was taken from 50' to <br /> 51 ' 6" ; recovery consisted of 12" of silty brown sand grading to <br /> mottled brown silty clay with some iron staining Some 1/8" to <br /> 1/4" chunks of black pprganic material , (coal '?, ) were present in <br /> the clays No odors were noted, and there was no evidence of <br /> staining; or discoloration A portion of the cored material was <br /> sealed and preserved for analysts For details of blow counts & <br /> other Pertinent data, refer to PLAThXIV_ <br /> After completion of operations, the auger hole was grouted from <br /> bottom to the surface with a cement/bentonite slurry as directed <br /> by M Infurna of the :pan Joaquin County EHD. Drill cuttings and <br /> unused core materials were placed in properly labeled sealed <br /> drums and stored on location pending receipt of the results of <br /> laboratory analyzes The preserved samples were transported <br /> under chain of custody to FGL Environmetal with instructions to <br /> analyze for BTEX, (EPA 8020, ) TPH-G & TPH-D, (EPA 8015M, ) and <br /> total lead (EPA 7420, ) on sample with highest TPH reading <br /> 9 <br />
