is three (3) miles to the south. <br /> The area is primarily utilized for manufacturing and light <br /> industrial businesses; there are a few scattered residences, and <br /> considerable undeveloped land. Refer to PLATE I for a general <br /> location map of the area. <br /> GEOLOGIC & GEOMORPHIC PROVINCE <br /> The property is situated in the lower Sacramento Valley, between <br /> the Sacramento-Mokelumne Rivers delta area to the west and the <br /> western slope of the Sierra Nevada uplift to the east The <br /> topography is one of very low relief , with a westerly gradie7n.t of <br /> about 5 feet per mile. PLATE 11 is from a USGS topograhic sheet, <br /> and shows the major features in the area <br /> SOILS CLASSIFICATION <br /> According to the 1952 publication issued by the University of <br /> California, Berkley, College of Agriculture titled "Soils of San <br /> Joaquin County, California" the site is underlain primarily by <br /> Landlow adobe clay terrace deposits, they are dark grayish-brown <br /> • in color, with good to imperfect drainage and a Storie Index of <br /> 39. There may be some Honcutt clay in the area; it has a reddish <br /> brown color, and a Storie Index of 56 These surface soils are <br /> underlain by Capay & Stockton adobe clays. Refer to PLATE III, <br /> taken from the above publication, for a map showing the distribu- <br /> tion of the known soils in the area <br /> DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER <br /> In January, 1991 , a groundwater monitoring well was installed on <br /> the adjacent property, (2431 Mariposa Road, ) owned by BJJ Co , <br /> down gradient from a 3500 gallon UST which is located beneath a <br /> building and could not be removed_ That well is approximately <br /> 225 feet southeasterly from the site of the removed tanks on <br /> Husky Crane property The water table has been measured at <br /> between 70 & '75' bgl during monitoring operations <br /> According to San Joaquin Flood Control District maps, the water <br /> table was as high as 47' bgl in the Spring of 1986 PLATE IV is <br /> a portion of that map. <br /> LOCATION OF NEARBY WELLS <br /> According to a statement in the PAR prepared for BJJ Co. by <br /> Geologic Audit Services, there is a well located in the NW/SW <br /> Sec. 17, T_ 1N. , R_ 7E. , approximately 1/2 male southeast of the <br /> Husky Crane property. However, that well is not shown on the San <br /> Joaquin Co Flood Control District location map;JPLATE Y.) There <br /> 2 <br />
