31 March 2014 1.
AGE Project No. 14-2997
Page 2 of 5
The review of records also revealed septic system permits indicating the presence of
three septic systems at the subject property: One system associated with the 'Old
Office' building, one system associated with the 'Shop 2' building and one system
associated with one of the shop buildings, including a drainage line from one of the
wash racks. Based on hand-drawn diagrams, the drainage line is likely from the 'Interior
Steam Cleaner' located adjacent to the 'Shop 1' building.
San Joaquin County Assessor's Office records contained records pertaining to USTs:
APN: 171-300-03
Service Station Record indicates a service station, constructed in the late 1940s, was
located in the dirt/gravel parking area in the northeast corner of property.
The service station consisted of four 1,000-gallon fuel USTs. Observations dated 1952
noted the tanks were rusted out and unusable. Assessment and computation records
indicate a 3,000-gallon UST, a 7,000-gallon UST and two associated pumps were
located on the property. The installation date (estimated approximate 1940s), location
and contents are unknown. The assessment record also indicated removal of an 'old
fuel island' in 1975. The record is probably in reference to the service station fuel
island. The assessment record also indicated installation of a 'new fuel island' (likely,
the current dispenser system). The service station is visible on aerial photographs
between the 1960s and 1970s.
APN: 171-300-13
Service Station Record with earliest assessments dated 1959, details the presence of a
UST system consisting of a 1,000-gallon UST, a 10,000-gallon UST and three pump
islands. Service station last assessed in 1976.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance soil borings in the areas of concern, to depths of 20 feet bsg,
to define the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil. Soil borings will be
advanced in the area of the former service station, in the area between the Interior
Steam Cleaner and the Truck wash building, focusing in the area of the septic system
and drainage line, and in the area of the former service station on the southern portion
of the subject property.
The assessment activities will consist of the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Advancement of soil borings for collection of soil samples;
• Sample analysis;
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
