VVV, <br /> RTC1 <br /> A S S 0 C I A T E S I N C <br /> ♦ Criterion 4 <br /> Additional costs for implementing this alternative are related to the costs associated with the <br /> permitted destruction of the existing small community well, the installation of a replacement <br /> well, and the permitting and destruction of existing morutonng wells (MW 1 and MW2) at <br /> project completion The cost of this alternative is estimated to be about $35,000 for the <br /> destruction and replacement of the community well, and $5,000 for a closure plan and <br /> monitoring well destruction <br /> ♦ Criterion 5 <br /> This alternative is effective in rrunm uzing the health-based asks in the short term Exposure to <br /> humans by contamination releases to the air due to dust, or through ingestion or dermal <br /> 1 exposure to impacted soil or groundwater is minimal during well destruction activities but is <br /> otherwise nonexistent <br /> ' ♦ Criterion 6 <br /> The long term effectiveness of this alternative is acceptable This alternative would reduce the <br /> ' toxicity and volume of the contaminants in the soil by natural biodegradation, but the rate of <br /> reduction is not known The possibility for health-based risks in the long term is low as long as <br /> the site remains surfaced and exposure of humans to impacted soil does not occur during any <br /> type of site excavation or structure demolition activities <br /> ♦ Criterion 7 <br /> ' Of all the alternatives the destruction of the existing small community well and the installation <br /> of a new small community well approach is the easiest to implement Well destruction and <br /> installation permits would be obtained from the appropriate agencies, the new small community <br /> well would be installed, and the existing small community well and the monitoring wells would <br /> be destroyed by pressure grouting the boring to the surface <br /> ♦ Criterion 8 <br /> Since minimal activity would be conducted at the site, the impact on the community would be <br /> minor and not disruptive to the businesses located nearby <br /> 8.0 RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> 1 Based on the soil and groundwater data compiled and included in this technical report ATC <br /> Associates recommends implementing the third remedial alternative, the destruction of the <br /> existing small community well and the installation of a new small community well Upon <br /> regulatory concurrence, ATC Associates and BJJ Trucking Company will begin making <br /> arrangements for field activities <br /> w 1943041repo \cloy=doe 10 <br />
