CHEMIST/LEAD TECHNICIAN Employee: r�� <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> The Chemist/ Lead Technician coordinates and supervises all field activities involving chemical <br /> identification, segregation, packaging,and transport. Coordinates with the Project Manager on <br /> waste identification and packaging, fingerprinting of unknown material, segregating and lab <br /> packing, completing material inventory forms, profiling waste and labeling. Other job duties <br /> may include directing the technicians, preparing shipping papers and providing support to the <br /> i <br /> Project Manager as necessary. <br /> i <br /> QUALIFICATIONS <br /> 1. BS in Chemistry or science related field or equivalent job experience. <br /> 2. Basic knowledge of 49 CFR, 40 CFR, 29 CFR and California Title 22 regulations as j <br /> applicable to Household Hazardous Waste. <br /> 3. Requires ability to direct and supervise on-site staff. <br /> 4. The position requires ability to accurately prepare Hazardous Waste Shipping papers per <br /> DOT requirements. <br /> 5. In-depth knowledge of chemistry and packaging requirements as it applies to HHW <br /> material. <br /> TRAINING <br /> I <br /> • 40-hour training course(with 8-hour annual refresher) in Hazardous Waste Operations <br /> and Emergency Response as prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety <br /> Administration in 29 CFR 1910.120. <br /> • Injury and Illness Prevention Program Training(w/bi-annual refresher) <br /> • Job specific training specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards of Title <br /> 29 (Annual refresher or as necessary to accommodate job duties) <br /> • Procedures for the proper handling and Transportation of Hazardous Material Training in <br /> accordance with DOT HM 181 and 215a. (bi-annual refresher) <br /> • Respirator Protection and Personal Protective Equipment Training in accordance with <br /> 29 CFR 1910, Subparts 1 and 2 (annual refresher) <br /> • Segregation procedures for classifying hazardous wastes (annual refresher) i <br /> • Containerization methodologies for disposal options(Recycling, Incineration,Treatment, <br /> Landfill) (annual refresher) <br /> • Waste profiling(annual refresher) <br /> • Spill response protocols (annual refresher) <br /> • Contingency plans and implementation(annual refresher) <br /> • Forklift Certification <br />
