Kennedy/Jenks Consultants <br /> 24 Current and Past Uses of Adjoining Properties <br /> The subject property is surrounded by commercial and retail businesses The site, relative <br /> to the surrounding properties, is shown on Figure 2 The properties immediately to the <br /> ' north across Market Street include vacant buildings, parking lots, and a bar To the west <br /> across American Street are the production facilities of"The Record" (newspaper) To the <br /> south across Washington Street is the elevated portion of Highway 4 (also known as the <br /> ' Cross-town Freeway) To the east across Stanislaus Street is Riteway Cleaners and a <br /> Goodwill facility Also, located within the block occupied by the subject property is one <br /> budding (644-648 Market Street) which is not the subject of this ESA and is considered an <br /> ' adjoining property The budding is currently unoccupied but has been used for a variety of <br /> retail/commercial businesses in the past <br /> Due to the number of vacant properties and inaccessible buildings, Kennedy/Jenks was <br /> not able to identify previous usage of the surrounding properties by visual assessment <br /> The history of the subject property was developed by reviewing aerial photographs, city <br /> directories, and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, and is discussed in greater detail in <br /> Section 3 3 <br /> 1 <br /> i 4ob196\960014 OOttext doc 5 <br />
