SITE DESCRIPTION
Location
The subject site is located on the western side of South Main Street on the northern
half of the parcel currently occupied by Dons Mobil Glass. Dons Mobil Glass is
located at 151 South Main Street in the City of Manteca. County of San Joaquin,
i California. The subject site, which is owned by Value Reclamation Corporation, has
i been assigned assessors parcel number of 219-410-11 (see Figure Ia, Vicinity Map).
I Site Vicinity
The subject site is bounded by South Main Street to the east, Firestone Tires - Los
Amigas Tire Service(123 South Main Street) to the north, Maple Street to the east,
and Don's Mobile Glass (151 South Main Street) to the south (see Figure No. Ic,
Site Map). To the east, directly across Main Street from the subject site is the Save
$ Market (grocery store) and the parking lot for Bank of America and to the west,
directly across Maple Street from the site, is a Public Parking Lot. Generally, the
subject property is a rectangular shaped parcel of approximately 1.24 acres located
within a light commercial / industrial area of the City of Manteca. Residential
properties are located in the areas to both the west and east of the subject site.
Geologic Setting
Regional geologic maps of the area(CDMG, 1990), indicate that the subject site is
located in an area underlain by Quaternary(Holocene)-aged dune sand deposits. The
site is located approximately 15.6 miles from the Coastal Ranges-Sierran Block Fault
Zone(San Joaquin Fault); and 25 miles from the Greenville Fault Zone. These fault
zones are reported to have shown indications of Late Quaternary seismic activity.
Our review of the proper literature (Hart, E. W. 1994, CDMG, 199 1) indicates that
the subject site lies outside the present Earthquake Fault Zones, which are described
in the Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Act as being placed along active
faults.
i
