I
Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Project a:99-1261
Proposed AutoZone Site.Manteca.California
February 19. 1999
Page 14
Oil & Gas Wells
There were no oil or gas wells observed on the subject site or on adjacent sites during
the site reconnaissance. Additionally, the Munger Oil & Gas Maps reviewed for
subject site indicated that there are no oil fields located beneath the subject site and
that there are no wells associated with the site (Munger, 1997).
Phvsical Setting Analysis For Migrating Hazardous Substances
The potential for migration of hazardous materials on to the subject site from offsite
sources is considered possible given the current uses and proximity of adjacent sites
with recognized environmental concerns and the groundwater gradient beneath the
subject site. However, during the Phase II - Limited Environmental Site Assessment
performed on the subject site, there was no evidence that would suggest that the
contaminants associated with the known unauthorized release on the adjacent
property had impacted the soils or groundwater beneath the subject site.
VI. PHASE II - LIMITED ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT
To assess the possibility that the an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons
associated with the adjacent property to the south of the subject site had adversely
impacted the soils beneath the subject site, three (3) borings were advanced along the
property line. The three (3) borings were advanced to depths of fifteen (15) feet
below the existing ground surface with soil samples being obtained at five (5) foot
increments. The soil samples were obtained and processed in accordance with an
work plan approved by the County of San Joaquin (appendix).
The soil samples obtained during the Phase II - Limited Environmental Site
Assessment were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons and purgeable aromatic
hydrocarbons in accordance with the DHS Modified Method 8015-m and with EPA
Method 8020, respectively. The results of the soil analysis indicated that the
contamination associated with unauthorized release on the adjacent site to the south
has not adversely impacted the soils beneath the subject site.
VII. FINDINGS AND CONCLtiSIONS
Anthony-Taylor Consultants has performed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the
property located on the western side of South Main Street on the northern half of the property
currently occupied by Dons Mobil Glass (151 South Main Street) in the City of Manteca,
County of San Joaquin, California. This investigation has been conducted in conformance
i
