~ 1. 0 INTRODUCTION
This supplemental site assessment has been prepared by
ETS Environmental for EZ Gas and Minimart located at 1405
Main Street in Escalon, California. Six soil borings were
drilled at the site on June 26, 1988 in the vicinity of three
underground storage tanks and one additional boring was
~ drilled within three feet of boring number 6 on August 26,
1988. This report serves as an addendum to the site
assessment report submitted by ETS and includes the
information and data pertaining to the installation of boring
number 7.
The location for boring number 7 was determined by the
requirement for additional data regarding the possibility of
soil impaction at both shallow and deep intervals in the
vicinity of boring number 6.

2. 0 METHODS AND PROCEDURES
~
. A proposal to conduct the additional scope of work
was submitted to the San Joaquin Local Health District on
August 18, 1988 and approved. Underground Service Alert was
~
contacted to mark underground utilities and provided ETS with
the ticket number 140146.
~ Sampling began and was completed on August 26, 1988 with
Osterberg and Stewart Well Drillers ( license number 446670)
conducting the drilling operation. A 1-1/2 inch diameter
California modified split spoon sampler with brass sleeves
was driven through 6-3/4 inch outside diameter hollowstem
auger to collect samples at intervals of not more than five
feet.
Because drilling vertically under the canopy was
impossible, boring number 7 was installed at a 30 degree
angle from vertical. The boring proceeded in the direction
indicated by the arrow in Figure 1-1. The boring was
backfilled with a neat cement and 5% bentonite mixture.
~ Soil samples collected were field inspected and logged
according to their Unified Soil Classification symbol. The
boring log is attached as Appendix A.

Soil samples were analyzed for gasoline by GC/FID and
for volatile organics by EPA Method 8020. Laboratory results
_ and the Chain-of-Custody documents are attached as Appendix
B.
The protocol followed during the drilling and sampling
operation has been attached to this report as Appendix C.
