This review reveals
that necessary site .assessment has not been completed to identify the
vertical and horizontal extent of hydrocarbon contamination.
Hydrocarbon contamination has been identified according to the report .
The quantity and extent of contamination have not been identified .
Following are specific problems and important points noted with the
assessment report .
1 ) Laboratory analytical results based on composited soil samples are
not accepted by this office as a basis for determining the extent
of contamination.
2 ) Describe the laboratory methodology used to determine that a small
amount of weathered hydrocarbon contamination was found in boring
#6 .
3 ) Describe more clearly why a soil sample was not collected at the
five foot level in soil boring # 6 . Collection and analysis of a
discrete sample at this location was especially imperative
considering that soil cuttings were noted to have a gasoline odor .
COPY
Administration Clinical Services Environmental Health Public Health Nursing
468-3400 468-3830 468-3420 468-3860
Air Pollution Community Services Laboratory WIC
468-3470 468-3820 468-3460 468-3280
AIDS Information 468-3820 _
