Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Mr. Carls: TSL HEA.N
The following letter is in response to item "2" from h4R,&AJ &sed preliminary
site assessment (Report 1425) .
Laboratory methodology for determining low-boiling point hydrocarbons in soil
utilizesla Dani headspace apparatus interfaced with a Varian gas chromatograph.
A photo-ionization detector in series with a flame-ionization detector allows
simultaneous quantitation of both aromatics (BTX's) and low boilers such as
gasoline.'
Gasoline ''consists of numerous aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons of various
chain lengths, volatilities, and mobilities. A very small amount .of .heavier
gasolinelcomponents was found in boring #6.. None of the lighter components
was present in this boring. The quantitated value is significantly below the
report limit.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely!,
Paul R.
