^

ETS ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT 301
PAGE 3
2. Send soil samples to an approved analytical
laboratory for analysis of the following; benzene,
~° toluene, xylene' EDB, EDC and total purgeable
hydrocarbons (gasoline or diesel ) . Analytical
methodology is included as Appendix B.
°~
3. Drill, soil sample and log a single soil boring to a
vertical depth of 10 feet at the location indicated
on Figure 1-1 (No. 10) . The boring will be drilled
^~ at a 30 degree angle to sample soil directly beneath
the waste oil tank.
~~ 4. Send the soil sample to an approved laboratory for
analysis of the following ; benzene, toluene, xylene,
EDB, EDC, and Should
~° any of the above tests return positive, additional
' \ \
analysis will include the metals Cd, Cr, Pb, Zn.
5. Prepare a report summarizing the analytical data,
~ findings, conclusions, and recommendations for
further work as necessary.
~~
4. 0 PROPOSED WORKPLAN
The following proposed workplan describes the procedures
~° used to complete the scope of work outlined in Section 3. 0.
Two soil borings are proposed at this time in the
^ locations indicated on Figure 1-1. Each soil boring will be
sampled at intervals not to exceed five feet to an '
anticipated depth of 20 feet. Should hydrocarbon
~~ contamination be encountered, the boring and sampling will
continue until at least two consecutive samples indicate no
contamination or until groundwater is encountered' This
judgement will be made in the field using visual and odor
~~ classification of the soil, and by the use of hydrocarbon
specific Drager tubes.
Ak A soil boring, dr11led at a 30 degree angle, wilI be
placed adjacent to the waste oil tank. The boring willproceed to a vertical depth of 10 feet and a single soil
sample will be collected from beneath the center of the tank. too
Once the borings have been completed, they will be
backfilled with a neat cement - 5% bentonite slurry tremmied
~~ into the boring. A cement "plug" will be placed on top of
the slurry from a depth of sin inches to grade.
Soil samples will be collected in brass liners that have
been driven into the soil according to the method described
in Appendix A. Chain-of-Custody procedures will be followed
,~ at all times. Samples will be sent to a California certified
analytical laboratory for analysis of the following
~~
