' The ozone-sparge wells will be constructed using a 1.5-foot-long by 1.5-inch-diameter In-Situ
Oxidation Point suspended by 1-inch-diameter Schedule 80 flush-threaded PVC casing equipped with
' Vitori O-rings. A filter pack consisting of#1C or equivalent silica sand will be placed around the
sparge point from the total depth of the boring,.to approximately 2 feet above the top of the injection
point. An approximate 5-foot-thick seal consisting of coated bentonite pellets will be placed above the
' filter pack. Above the seal, a bentonite/cement grout will be placed to within one foot of grade level.
Each wellhead will consist of a 1-inch-diameter union with a Schedule 80 PVC body equipped with
a 316 stainless steel inlet tee. The inlet tee is equipped with a Kynar compression fitting to
' accommodate the ozone injection tubing from the ozone system manifold. Each ozone-sparge well will
be completed with a flush mount 18-square-inch traffic-rated well box. An injection wellhead detail
diagram is shown on Figure 6.
' The soil cuttings and decontamination fluids from drilling operations will be retained in Department of
Transportation (DOT)-approved, 17-H, 55-gallon drums and temporarily stored at the Site. We will
arrange for transport and disposal of the drums upon completion of the sparge well installation
' activities.
General Requirements
A Commercial Building Permit, if necessary, will be obtained from the San Joaquin County
Community Development Department as required for construction/installation of the ozone system.
The Site is already equipped with adequate power for the ozone system control panel inside the
existing former treatment compound. New underground conveyance piping will be used to route the
conveyance tubing to each ozone-sparge well, and these trenches may require inspection.
' If required, any new electrical systems and supplies shall be connected to conform to local and state
requirements, specifically (but not limited to) the California Building Standards Commission: 2007
California Building Code and 2007 California Electrical Code. The equipment shall be intrinsically
' safe, manufactured for use in a potentially hazardous location, and meet the requisite codes for
building, electrical and fire inspection.
' Ozone-sparge System Details
Control Panel
' The ozone system control panel will be an H2O Engineering ozone system model no. OSU20-52 [3.8
chn, 110 volts, 30 amps].
' Conveyance Piping
Pipe, pipe fittings, and other incidental related items as required for complete piping systems to and
from the ozone system control panel and manifold shall be as follows:
o Four-inch-diameter Schedule 80 PVC shall be used as the two main conveyance conduits from the
' system compound to the ozone-sparge well field. A 4-inch—diameter Wye shall be used prior to
each reducing joint to prevent any 90°angles that can pinch the interior tubing.
• Two-inch-diameter Schedule 80 PVC pipe shall be used for each lateral extending from the two
' main 4-inch conduits. A 2-inch—diameter Wye shall be used prior to each reducing joint to prevent
any 90°angles that can pinch the interior tubing.
' Project No.S9183-06-02 -6- November 11,2009
