LIGHT, AIR & SPACE CONSTRUCTION
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES COMPANY
State Contractor's License Number 445403
State EPA R.E.A.Number 04072
Office 408-979-0661
B. JOB and RISK ANALYSIS
Residual levels of VOC's motor fuels in the tank, soil and groundwater may create a potential explosion, fire or
exposure hazards. Exposure by vapors is the likely hazard for this project.
Confined space entry will not be performed.
Power machinery, including drilling rigs, excavation equipment, and concrete cutting equipment will be used
on the site. Sub-contractors will be requested to site their equipment in a safe manner; the site safety officer
will have the final approval for site set-up.
Chemical Hazards-Possible Compounds Encountered May Include--
Petroleum Fuels and Related Compounds
Gasoline Fuel - CAS:8006-61-9 A mixture of volatile hydrocarbons suitable for use in spark ignition internal
_ combustion engines. It is highly flammable, with dangerous fire and explosion risk,TLV 300 ppm.
Diesel Fuel-(Fuel oil No. 2)-Fuel for diesel engines,a petroleum distillate, with volatility similar to gasoline.
Flash point 110-190 F_,d<1,combustible,flammable and explosion risk.
Benzene-CAS: 7143-2 -Component of gasoline and diesel fuels,F. P. 12_F, LEL 1.3%,Vapor Pressure 75
nun, Class 1B Flammable Liquid, known carcinogen, toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin absorption,
Exposure Limits NIOSH Ca 0.1 ppm,IDLH 3,000 ppm.
Toluene - CAS: 108-88-3 - Component of gasoline and diesel fuels, F. P. 40 J, LEL 1.2%, Vapor Pressure
65_F, Class 113 Flammable Liquid, toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin absorption, Exposure Limits
'— NIOSH/OSHA 100 ppm,IDLH 2000 ppm.
Ethylbenzene-Component of gasoline and diesel fuels, F. P. 55_F, LEL 1.0%, Class 113 Flammable Liquid,
toxic by ingestion,inhalation and skin absorption,Exposure Limits NIOSH/OSHA 100 ppm,IDLH 2000 ppm.
Xylene - CAS: 1330-20-7 - Component of gasoline and diesel fuels, toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin
absorption, F. P. 63/84/81_ F, LEL 1.0%, Vapor Pressure 7/9/9mm, Class 113 Flammable Liquid, Class 1C
Flammable Liquid,Exposure Limits NIOSH/OSHA 100 ppm,IDLH 1000 ppm.
Physical Hazards and Other Hazards
Physical hazards associated with this project are moving equipment, working near excavation equipment, noise
(in local proximity of machines).
Asbestos
This specific site health and safety plan anticipates Level D working conditions. Should asbestos containing
building materials be encountered,LA&S shall do the following: if the material is friable it shall not be
disturbed, and creation of fugitive dust will be minimized. The site will be secured and an AHERA certified
asbestos professional will be brought to the site to assess the existing conditions and to determine what
_ appropriate abatement measures should be recommended.
June 15, 2005
MAIN OFFICE • 1707 LITTLE ORCHARD STREET,SUITE A•SAN JOSE•CA•95125
bo" MAILING ADDRESS•P.O.Box 36303•SAN JOSE•CA•95158-6303•408/979-0661•408/979-0621 FAX•LASCONST@AOL.COM E-MAIL
GENERAL AND ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR•HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE REMOVAL CONTRACTOR•SITE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS
WETLAND AND RIPARIAN HABITAT—ASSESSMENT—DESIGN—RESTORATION—CONSTRUCTION—MITIGATION MONITORING
I•
