Sidewalk east of Cancun Restaurant November 30, 2010
135 East Miner Street page 2
The EHD does not agree with either AGE's conclusions or their recommendation. As outlined
above, the petroleum hydrocarbon impact to soil is not defined south of the former tank pit,
and AGE's conclusion that soil samples collected from MW-4B provide definition in the soil to
the southeast is erroneous based on their maps showing the well located directly east of the
former tank pit area. The petroleum hydrocarbon impact to the groundwater is neither
vertically nor laterally defined. The analytical results from the groundwater monitoring wells
confirm the results from the grab samples collected in 2008. Further investigation may be
required, but a directive to do so will be delayed until at least one more routine groundwater
monitoring and sampling event is performed and reported.
You are directed to conduct four consecutive quarters of groundwater monitoring and
sampling, of all five monitoring wells, starting with the completed fourth quarter 2010 event,
following which you will conduct semi-annual groundwater monitoring and sampling. You are
to continue groundwater monitoring and sampling until directed otherwise by this agency.
The next event should be done in January 2011; a report of findings is due for submittal to
the EHD and Geotracker within sixty days following completion of the fieldwork.
If you have any questions please contact Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337 or by email at
Iduncan@sjcehd.com.
Sincerely, A
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
