437 Miner Ave
Page 3
The work plan proposed to install an additional monitoring well approximately 160 feet
northeast of monitoring well, U-3. The maximum concentrations observed in U-4 ( 60 feet
north-northwest of U-3) were 440 ppb TPH-gas and 49 ppb Benzene and in U-8 (80 feet east of
U-3) were 380 ppb TPH-gas and 75 ppb Benzene. It is anticipated that the additional well
proposed will provide a downgradient non-detect monitoring point.
Please submit the City of Stockton encroachment and revocable permits for the installation of
the additional well.
Regarding, PHS/EHD's last directive dated March 18, 1997, Unocal is still out of compliance with
adopted policies, regulations and law. Unocal has not initiated the feasibility study which was
proposed, so that a corrective action plan can be prepared. If the required feasibility study that
has been proposed is not initiated by June 20, 1997, an office hearing will be scheduled to
discuss your compliance status.
If you have any questions please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
n
I/ / I //6'1I
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margaret Ldg REFIS U —
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
MM/437MINER
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
cc: David Irey, San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney
cc: Stephen Carter, GeoStrategies 3164 Gold Camp Ste. 240, Sacramento CA 95670
cc: Joel Greger, MPDS 2401 Stanwell Ste. 300, Concord CA 94520
cc: Sutter Office Center, 2001 Union Street Ste.300, San Francisco CA 94123
