It is evident upon reading
the report that the ozone micro-sparging system installed by Gettler-Ryan in December 2000 is affecting
the concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater. Concentrations of hydrocarbons appear
to be increasing in the more shallow wells and decreasing in the intermediate and deeper wells. Dot
Lofstrom of PHS/EHD and Gregg Gurss of Gettler-Ryan discussed the significance of the monitoring
results in a telephone conversation on May 4,2001,and agreed that not enough data have been collected to
derive meaningful conclusions from the analytical results as of yet.
Ms. Lofstrom and Mr.Gurss also discussed the ozone micro-sparging system evaluation report that is
currently scheduled to be submitted to PHS/EHD in June 2001. They agreed that the evaluation would be
more useful if completed after receipt of the second quarter of analytical data. Therefore, the system
evaluation report will be submitted to PHS/EHD in August 2001 and will incorporate the fust and second
quarters of groundwater monitoring data. Second quarter groundwater sampling is scheduled for May 7, 8,
and 9,2001.
If you have any questions regarding these matters, please do not hesitate to call Dot Lofstrom at(209)468-
3436.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Services
zoefi ,
Dot Lofstrom,R. .
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit
cc: Marty Hartzell
Gregg Gurss—Gettler-Ryan.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
