Miner Avenue
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)has reviewed
the response letter dated July 24, 1998, from ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller, Inc. on behalf of UNOCAL
for the above referenced site.
Current water level is above the screened interval of monitoring wells U1, U2, U3, U4, U5, U6, U7, and
U8. The water level has been above the screened interval of monitoring wells U4, U5, U6, U7, and U8
since February 1997. Vapor extraction well UV1 does have screen above and below first water but is
not being sampled. Therefore, current water sample results may not reflect the contaminant levels of
first water. PHS/EHD does not agree that the investigation proposed will complete the soil and water
investigation. It will provide information to better evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of the
contamination.
A site map showing the new location of the proposed boring was not provided with the July 24, 1998,
letter. PHS/EHD verbally requested this site map from ARCADIS Geraghty & Miller and they agreed
to submit the site map to our agency. Contingent on agreement with the location of the proposed
boring, the work proposed in the work plan dated May 26, 1998, with the amendments agreed to in the
July 24, 1998, letter is approved. Please submit a PHS/EHD well permit application, an $89 permit fee
and a copy of the encroachment permit from the City of Stockton. After the well permit has been
issued the work can be scheduled with PHS/EHD staff so the work can be witnessed.
If you have any questions contact me at(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
U
Margaret Lagodo, Supervising REHS
Site Mitigation Unit
c: CVRWQCB-Mark List
ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller-Dr. Stephen Cullen
UNOCAL-Bob Boust
SWRCB- Lon Casias
SJCADA- David Irey
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Cam Services
