Miner Street
Stockton, CA
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the "Work Plan
for Well Destruction" dated July 1, 2009, prepared by ARCADIS for destruction of monitoring
well U-26 for the above subject site. The plan proposes destruction of U-26 by pressure
grouting and then overdrilling the upper 3 feet with a 10 inch hollow stem auger and grouting to
form a mushroom cap over the well casing. The City of Stockton Public Works Department
Encroachment Permit states that the upper restoration shall be a deep lift of"A/C' and the well
shall be over cut one foot on each side for the "A/C". The San Joaquin County Well Standards
require a hole at least one foot larger in diameter than the originally drilled hole to be excavated
around the outside of the well casing to a depth of 3 feet and the casing to be cut off 6 inches
above the bottom of the excavation and removed. Grout is to fill the well casing and spill into
the excavation forming a cap. Since this well is in the City of Stockton roadway, the EHD will
permit the well destruction according to the City of Stockton requirements. Please submit a well
destruction permit application and $60 permit fee. Once the permit has been issued, the well
destruction can be scheduled. Please provide at least two working days notice of when the well
destruction will occur so the inspection can be scheduled.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-3449.
Margaio, REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Jim Barton, CVRWQCB
David Evans, ARCADIS, 950 Glenn Drive Ste 125, Folsom, CA 95630
