Miner Street
Stockton, CA
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the "Fourth
Quarter 2009 Groundwater Monitoring Report" (Report) dated May 20, 2009, prepared by
ARCADIS and our file for the above subject site. The Report recommends discontinuing
analyses for iron, potassium, sulfate, nitrate, ferrous iron, total organic carbon, phosphorous and
phosphate which was not being done under request or approval of the EHD so the EHD will not
comment on that recommendation. The Report also recommends destruction of monitoring well
U17 because it was installed to a total depth of 120 feet and appears to be obstructed around
105 feet, the EHD approves of destruction of U17. Please proceed with submittal of a plan for
destruction and obtaining the required permits from the City of Stockton and the EHD for the
destruction.
A soil boring and several vapor probes were installed at the site in February 2009 and to date
vapor sampling of the probes has not occurred. A report of the work performed in February
2009 has not been submitted to Geotracker or the EHD. The vapor sampling should be
conducted by August 1, 2009 and a report of the February 2009 work should be submitted by
that date as well.
The State Water Resources Control Board passed Resolution 2009-0042 on May 19, 2009, that
includes a resolve to reduce quarterly monitoring at underground storage tank cleanup sites to
semi-annual or less frequent unless quarterly monitoring is warranted. Currently monitoring
wells MW3, MW12, MW13, MW17, MW19, MW20, MW21, NP1-22, NP1-65, NP2-22 and NP2-
60 are being sampled each quarter. The sampling of these wells can be reduced to semi-
annual.
If you have any qui-estions, please contact me at (209) 468-3449.
Margor REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Jim Barton, CVRWQCB
David Evans, ARCADIS, 950 Glenn Drive Ste 125, Folsom, CA, 95630
