Mendocino <br /> Avenue, Stockton, California (referred to herein 'as the "site"). The purpose of the additional <br /> assessment is to obtain further groundwater data through in-situ groundwater testing. This <br /> assessment will focus specifically on determining the extent of methyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE) in the shallow groundwater. ESA discussed the approach presented in this workplan <br /> with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) in a meeting on October <br /> 10, 2000. A Site Health & Safety Plan prepared for the field portion of this project is included as <br /> Attachment A. <br /> PROJECT BACKGROUND 1 <br /> The site is the former location of the University of the Pacific (UOP)Physical Plant on the north <br /> side of Mendocino Avenue within the UOP campus(Figure 1). UOP moved its main campus to <br /> its present location in Stockton, California in approximately 1924. The former Physical Plant <br /> building,Central Receiving Building,and Electric Shop located south,southeast and southwest of <br /> the site are being remodeled for use as classroom buildings. <br /> UOP recently removed a Custodial Warehouse and a shed formerly located to the east of the site. <br /> As part of current renovations and construction of new facilities,UOP had the 4,400 gallon <br /> unleaded gasoline UST removed on April 7, 2000,'under permits issued by SJCEHD(#022179) <br /> Environmental Science Associates 1 University of the Pacific <br /> November 2000 Workplan For Additional Site Assessment <br /> 200252 <br /> t <br />
