Manteca Unified School District 660 Mikesell Avenue, Manteca, California Subsurface Soil and Groundwater Investigation V Report 1.0 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION r The following scope of work was conducted to help characterize the petroleum contamination disclosed during the underground tank removal at the above referenced property. A Geoprobe was used to obtain soil and ground water samples for the preliminary characterization of the lateral and vertical extent of contamination. 1.1 Site Description and History Two underground fuel tanks were removed under permit in November 1998 by SEMCO. Moderately high levels of diesel were present in the sample (Diesel D-2 @ 3') obtained from three feet in depth under the diesel fuel dispenser. Samples collected from the diesel and gasoline tank excavation and the gasoline dispenser were non-detect for the compounds analyzed. Table of Laboratory Sample Results (November 1998 r. Sample I.D. J. Kloberdanz & Associates drilled three soil borings to various depths in the area around the former dispenser and underground diesel tank. Boring B-1 was drilled between the former dispenser and underground diesel tank to a depth of 30 feet with no odor or soil discoloration encountered. Laboratory soil samples were collected and analyzed from the 10, 15, 20 and 30 foot depths. Low levels of diesel were present in all of the samples. A water sample was not collected from this 1.25 inch diameter boring because the water bearing zone between 20 and 24 feet would not produce enough water. V
