Mr Jim Woodward
July 24, 1995
Page 2
Analytical results of the groundwater samples for this and previous quarters are summarized
in Table 3 The June 14, 1995 analytical results are shown on Figure 2 Laboratory reports
are included in Exhibit A Analytical results identified BTEX compounds in each
groundwater sample at concentrations ranging from 2 1 micrograms per liter (ug 1) to 38 µg/1
of benzene, 9 4 to 79 pg/l of toluene, 2 2 to 11 pg/l of ethylbenzene, and 12 to 59 pg/i of total
xylenes TPH-G was identified in the groundwater samples collected from MW-1 and MW-3
at concentrations of 350 pg/l and 140 pg/l, respectively TPH-D and TPH-MO were not
detected in any of the groundwater samples.
A duplicate sample was collected from well MW-3 and analyzed by the same EPA Methods
listed above Comparison of the initial and duplicate sample results are within acceptable
guidelines Analytical results from a field blank sample collected at well MW-2 indicate no
detectable concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons
Discussion
Concentrations of BTEX and TPH-G increased this quarter Detectable concentrations of
TPH-G has been identified in the groundwater sample collected from well MW-2 for the first
. time since sampling began in May, 1994 Since gasoline products have not been stored at
this site in the past and analytical results from past soil investigations did not indicate gasoline
constituents in soil samples, an off-site source of BTEX and TPH-G cannot be dismissed.
Off-site potential sources are currently being investigated A database file search indicated
that several sites exist upgradient that could potentially be an off-site source of gasoline
constituents Additional investigation of these potential off-site sources is continuing into the
third quarter 1995
If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact me at (916) 4440123.
Sincerely,
B OWN AND CALDWELL
Pat G Cullen, R.G. #4932
Project Manager
PGC TMB ksc
Enclosures
cc- Mr Steve Sasson, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Use or disclosure of data contained on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this
document
E\1422\REPORTS195QTRIUyraND95QFR_Tr
