SCOPE or WORK <br /> t ' All OHM activities will be performed in strict compliance. <br /> with applicable safety and environmental regulations. <br /> - PERMITS <br /> OHM will obtain required permits and approvals- from the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health' Department (SJCEHD) prior to <br /> beginning any field; activities. ' In addition, the Stockton and <br /> San Joaquin County Fire Departments will be notified of all field. <br /> activity dates and times. A Certified Industrial Hygienist <br /> and/or Marine Chemist will be present on-site during the tank <br /> dismantlement activities, as required by the fire department, to ' <br /> ensure that a non-explosive environment is maintained. <br /> MOBILIZATION AND STAGING AREA SET-UP <br /> Once all appropriate permits and approvals have been <br /> obtained, OHM will mobilize field personnel and equipment .to the <br /> site. A decontamination area will be set up, work zones and <br /> perimeters established, and a staging area will be prepared for <br /> the removed tank and/or contaminated soil (Figure 2-1) . <br /> An OHM decontamination trailer' will be located at the <br /> boundary of the work zone. The trailer will be equipped with a <br /> first-aid station, lockers, and a field office for the duration <br /> of scheduled field activities. Work zones for tank cleaning, <br /> removal, excavation and disposal preparation will be established <br /> prior to the commencement of removal work. A staging area for <br /> materials requiring off-site removal will be established in an <br /> appropriate accessible area prior to beginning removal <br /> activities. If contamination is encountered, a designated area <br /> will be prepared on-site to receive the material pending <br /> subsequent off-site removal or on-site treatment preparation. <br /> REMOVAL OF TANK ROOF <br /> Upon completion of liquid contents removal by others, OHM <br /> will remove the tank roof using non-sparking shears attached to <br /> an OHM excavator. A gas powered cut-off saw may or may not be <br /> used to assist in the removal activities. Holes will be <br /> positioned and cut into the roof for placement of rigging anchors <br /> to support the plates being cut. Nylon slings will be used to <br /> support the plates being removed as they are cut. ' During removal <br /> operations,- the tank interior will be inerted using CO. and dry <br /> ice. A certified Marine Chemist and/or Certified Industrial <br /> 252 <br /> ------------- <br />
