1 <br /> Closure Report 14 <br /> Golden Grain Manteca Bean Facility,299 Moffat Boulevard,Manteca,California July 16,19% <br /> ' in developing the fate and transport model for the site presented in section 5 and as part of the site <br /> P 9 P <br /> ' risk evaluation presented in section 6 <br /> ' 4.1 Soil Boring Program <br /> ' In November 1995, Groundwater Technology, on behalf of Golden Grain, prepared a Work Plan for <br /> Implementation of a Soil bonng Program(Groundwater Technology 1995) The purpose of the soil <br /> boring program was to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the remediation system,define the <br /> tpresent extent of impacted groundwater, determine the hydrocarbon concentrations in soil and <br /> groundwater, if any, present under the former warehouse, and to collect soil samples for further <br /> ' definition of the aquifer characteristics <br /> The held work outlined in the work plan and addendum, approved by San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department was completed in April 1996 Ten soil borings (figure 3)were <br /> drilled, soil and groundwater samples were collected, and the radius of influence of the soil vapor <br /> extraction system was verified A brief summary of the results is presented in the following <br /> paragraphs A detailed description of the work performed, methodologies used, physical and <br /> chemical analyses performed and results are summarized in appendix E <br /> ' 4 f 1 Soil Results <br /> Soil bon ng depths ranged from 20 feet below grade to 36 feet below grade The bonng logs <br /> ' (appendix B) were used in the construction of the geologic cross-sections presented as figures 4, 5, 6 <br /> and 18, 19, 20 A review of the sod boring logs indicates that the subsurface material encountered in <br /> ' the soil bonngs is consistent with historic data consisting mainly of sand with some interbedded silts <br /> Groundwater was encountered between 14 25 feet below grade and 18 feet below grade in the soil <br /> borings <br /> A total of 69 soil samples was collected from the ten borings Fifty-eight of the soil samples were <br /> ' screened in the field using a PID The field PID readings indicated that headspace concentrations of <br /> volatile organic compounds ranged from nondetectable to 600 parts per million (ppm) Table 8 lists <br /> the depths and PID readings of the soil samples that were screened in the field <br /> ' 42020213 CR <br /> FLUOR DANIEL 6T{ - <br /> 1 <br />
