First Quarter 1994 Status Report March 31, 1994 <br /> Golden Grain Company, Manteca Bean Facility, 229 Moffat Blvd , Manteca, CA 3 <br /> TREATMENT SYSTEM OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE <br /> During this quarter, the sod and groundwater treatment system was operational for 76 days The sod <br /> treatment system extracts vapors from wells MW-2 and MW-3 The groundwater treatment system <br /> extracts groundwater from well RW-1 Over the quarter, 14 site visits were made to perform system <br /> operation and maintenance work Work performed during each maintenance event included <br /> ■ Taking flame-ionization detector (FID) measurements of system vapor effluent and <br /> influent, <br /> • Checking and recording the catalytic oxidizer operational data, <br /> • Checking and calibrating the system lower explosive limit (LEL) meters, <br /> • Checking and recording system lead scrubber operational parameters, <br /> • Recording operational data and maintaining rotron blowers and vapor extraction <br /> system, <br /> • Checking and recording operational data for LO-PROF Lo-Profile Air Stripper, <br /> making adjustments as necessary, and <br /> • Performing a daily system operating parameters check via modem <br /> In addition to the above mentioned weekly operation and maintenance, the following specific <br /> activities were performed on March 3, 1994 <br /> • Installed a catalytic water conditioner to the influent of the air stripper to minimize <br /> fouling caused by the hardness of the water <br /> • Installed a covered sump and an automatic sump pump in line with the water <br /> treatment system to minimize standing water within the compound during heavy <br /> rains and for a secondary containment backup <br /> Disposed of 11 drums of sod which were previously stored in the adjacent <br /> warehouse No amounts of TPH-G, BTEX, or total lead were detected in samples <br /> collected for disposal The sod was disposed of at the Forward Landfill in Stockton, <br /> Ca, under a non-hazardous waste manifest <br /> ■ Made additional piping modifications to the influent of the air stripper in order to <br /> treat the well sampling purge water through the groundwater treatment system <br /> • 551OR014 020 <br /> 09 GROUNDWATER <br /> TECHNOLOGY,INC <br />
