First Quarter 1996 Status Report 3 <br /> Golden Grain Company,Manteca Bean Facility,229 Moffat Boulevard,Manteca,CA March 21,1996 <br /> detected in groundwater samples from MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, and MW-7 were lower than the results <br /> reported for the previous quarterly sampling performed on November 17, 1995, but within historic <br /> ranges Concentrations of TPH-g detected in groundwater samples from MW-5 were slightly higher <br /> than the results reported in the previous quarter Benzene concentrations detected in groundwater <br /> samples from each of the five wells were lower than the results from the previous quarter, but within <br /> historic ranges <br /> TREATMENT SYSTEM OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE <br /> During this quarter,the soil treatment system operated for only 11/2 hours on March 7, 1996 The <br /> existing budding at the site was demolished beginning the last week in November 1995 until the middle <br /> of February 1996 When the system was restarted on March 7, 1996, the Influent and effluent <br /> hydrocarbon concentrations were monitored with aflame-ionization detector (FID) The highest <br /> reading of hydrocarbon concentrations during the operation was one part per million (ppm), with no <br /> detectable concentrations at the end of the period Because no Influent concentrations were <br /> sustainable,the system was turned off <br /> The groundwater treatment system consists of two liquid-phase granular activated carbon (GAC) <br /> i <br /> vessels arranged in series The groundwater treatment system extracts groundwater from well RWA <br /> During the quarter, six site visits were made to determine if the power to the remediation system was <br /> repaired and to perform maintenance and routine system operation The following work was <br /> performed once the power was returned <br /> ■ recording FID measurements of catalytic oxidizer vapor Influent and effluent during system <br /> operation <br /> ■ monitoring and recording the catalytic oxidizer operational data <br /> ■ monitoring and calibrating the system lower explosive limit (LEL) meters <br /> ■ recording operational data and maintaining vacuum extraction blowers and vapor <br /> extraction system (VES) <br /> ■ monitoring and recording operational data for the groundwater treatment system and <br /> making adjustments as necessary <br /> • <br /> 42620213 051 <br /> ��® GROUNDWATER <br /> ❑ET] TECHNOWGY <br />
