T'
3.4
GOI:DEN GRAIN COMPANY
December 21, 1989
202/799-5045.05
Health Services (DHS)-approved methods; and 1,2-dibromoethane
(ethylene dibromide or EDB) by EPA Method 504. As proposed in
the revised work plan, samples from borings on the south side of
Moffat Boulevard (MW-10 and MW-14, the closest to the southern
Pacific Pipeline that carries jet fuel to Castle Air Force Base)
r..
were analyzed for TPH as jet fuel by modified EPA Method 8015 in
addition to the parameters listed above.
3,3.3 Wall Construction_
All six borings were converted to 2-inch-diameter
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-9 through MW-14) . The wells
were constructed of 40 feet of 9.02o-inch, machine-slotted,
•
schedule 40 PvC ss-reen and 5 to 10 feat of blank PVC casing. The
annular space was filled with Number 3 Lonestar sand from
completion depth to 1 foot above the screened interval.
Each well was finished with a 1- to 3-foot bentonite seal
overlain by sand-cement grout to surface. DTI's experience in
ures that the seals
well installation using sand-cement gnat*} ass
will be adequate. A locking cap and traffic-rated street box
were installed to provide access to each well. Specific well
construction details are noted in Appendix III.
The wells were developed using a truck--mounted rig fitted
with a 20-foot bailer and surger. Groundwater was removed from
each well until the water was relatively clec.r of suspended
sediments. Water produced during the development process was
placed in DOT-approved 55-gallon steel drums, sealed, and left on
site for disposal at a lacer date.
i
GROUNDWATER
TECHNOLOGY,INC.
