r GOLDEN GRAIN COMPANY 15 December 21, 1989 202/799-5045.06 3.3.4 Groundwater level Meas,zrements and Sampling Groundwater levels in all wells at the site were measured 2 to 7 days after drilling, prior to development of the new wells. Both groundwater and free-product levels were gaugea pith a level indicator graduated to 1/100th of a foot that uses dual optical and electrical sensors to distinguish between hydrocarbons and water. Depths were measured from the level of the rim of the street box (grade) . All newly --istalled monitoring wells, with the exception of MW-9, were sampled following well development. (Mw-9 could not be developed or sampled at this time because an obstruction was present. The well casing had shifted; as a result, a bailer became wedged in the well.) Previously installed *dells were: purged with a hand bailer of four well volumes of water before sampling. Groundwater generated during the purging process was stored on site in DOT-approved containers for subsequent classi- fication and disposal. r After purging, groundwater samples were collected from MW- 2, MW-5 through MW-8, and MW-10 through Mid-14. The sample from MW-2 is considered representative of MPI-1 through MW-3, which are installed very close to one another (within a 10- to 20-foot radius) and are constructed identically. MW-4 was not samnled because SPP was detected. The samples were collected using an EPA-approved Teflon sampler and placed in 40-milliliter (ml) glass vials, 500-m1 _ plastic bottles, and 1-liter (1) amber glass bottles for ... ...... ......... .... ... _. laboratory analysis.
