' 05 July 2002'.
• AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
' Page 2of7
For each sample,both ends of the leading or other selected sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets,
' ~ capped and sealed with tape.The samples were labeled,stored on ice and transported under chain-of-
custodyto Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL),a State-of California Department of Health
' Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory. Selected soil samples were analyzed for: s
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline;diesel and motor oil (TPH-g, TPH-d E .
and TPH-mo) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8021;
' The fuel additives di-isopropyl ether (PIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE,
tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA), ethylene dibromide(EDB)-
and-1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
' .2.1.2. Logging
' Soil was extruded from a second brass sleeve and was screened for the presence of organic vapor
using an organic vapor meter (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo
Environmental 580A, 10.0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene), and the OVM readings were recorded on
' a boring log. The soil was then visually described in the boring log in accordance with the Unified
Soil Classification System (see Appendix A).
2.1.3. Monitoring Well Installation
' Pilot boring MW-7 was completed as a ground water monitoring well using two-inch diameter PVC
casing with 0.020-inch slotted screen installed from approximately 15 feet to 35 feet bsg and with. .
blank casing extended to the surface.The filter pack(No. 3 Lonestar sand)was installed from 13 feet
' to approximately 35 feet bsg.A nominal 2-foot bentonite chip plug was then installed above the filter'
pack and hydrated. The wells were then grouted to near the surface with portiand cement. Water-
tight,traffic-rated well boxes were then installed over the wells.As built well diagrams are depicted
on the boring logs in Appendix A.
2.1.4. Monitoring Well Development Activities
' On 28 February.2002,monitoring well MW-7 was developed utilizing a stainless steel hand bailer.
Ground water was purged from each monitoring well until ground water was visually sediment free;
• approximately 26 gallons of water were removed from MW-7. Purged ground water was
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
