' 09 July 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
Various BTEX compounds were detected in all of the watersamples analyzed.Benzene was detected
1 in samples from MW-2 (0.94-µg/l) and MW-3 (1.5 µg/1): Toluene was detected in samples from:
MW-2,MW-3 and MW-5;the maximum toluene concentration was found in the sample from MW-5,
(5.6 µg/1). The nnaximum ethylbenzene and xylene concentrations were detected in the sample from
MW-5 at 1,100 µg11 and 1,300 µg/l, respectively.
TBA was detected by EPA Method 8260B in ground water samples from MW-2 through MW-5 at
concentrations ranging from 23 µg/1 in MW-4 to l 10 µg11 in MW-3.
' MTBE,EDB and 1,2-DCA were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the groundwater
samples collected.
' Analytical results of groundwater samples are summarized on Table 2. The laboratory report(MAI
Lab I.D.No. 63396 through 63400) and chain-of custody forms are included in Appendix B.
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
' Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes:
• Depth to ground water at the site averaged approximately 19.4 feet bsg-on 11 June 2001.
'
• ground On 11 June 2001 the water elevation'at the site averaged approximately 17.4 feet
above mean sea level, with a net flow towards the northwest under an average gradient of
0.0006 ft/ft..
• TPH-g concentration increased in ground water samples from MW-1 through MW-5 from
the previous quarter monitoring.
• TPH-g and various BTEX compounds were'detected in all-five ground water monitoring
wells on-site. Further lateral definition is necessary to determine the horizontal extent of
' hydrocarbon-impact to ground water.
• TBA was detected in four of the five groundwater monitoring wells at concentrations as high
'• as 110 µg/l.
' 5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS .
' Based upon data collected-frorn the site, AGE recommends:
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1
