Quarterly Report - Third Quarter 2000
' BOB'S MUFFLER SHOP
466 Moffat Boulevard, Manteca, California
1,0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Tom Barbour of Bob's Muffler Shop, Advanced
' GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this quarterly report for the property located at 466
Moffat Boulevard, Manteca; California. The scope of work included quarterly ground water
' monitoring and preparation of this report. The location of the site and the immediately surrounding
area are illustrated on Figure 1; structures, former UST locations, and soil boring and monitoring
_ well locations are illustrated on Figure 2.Background information is summarized in the P. reliminary
' Site Assessment Work Plan dated 30 November 1998 and Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation
Report dated 10 August 1999, both prepared by AGE.
2.0. PROCEDURES
' Quarterly ground water monitoring was performed on monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-5 on
07 September 2000. Field work was performed in accordance with the San Joaquin County Public
' . Health Services-Environmental Health Division and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites.
' 2.1. MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
On 07 September 2000, a Solinst.water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water
in the five wells relative to the tops of the well casings. Ground water elevations, flow direction and
gradient were determined from this data (Table 1).
l' After recording water level measurements, a two-stage submersible pump was used to purge each
monitoring well of standing water. Approximately 9 gallons of water were removed from each well'
' (approximately 3 well casing water volumes).Ground water temperature,pH and conductivity were
measured at 3-gallowintervals during the purge process using a Hydae water analyzer. Field data
sheets are included in Appendix A. Purged water was stored on site in labeled, 55-gallon
DOT-approved drums.
2.2. COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable plastic bailers. Each
' water sample was transferred into laboratory-supplied 40-ml VOA vials containing 0.5 ml 18%
hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative, and into 1-liter glass amber bottles without a
preservative. After collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
