10 August 1999
. AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
respectively. MTBE was not detected.above the elevated reporting.limit. Analytical results of soil
samples are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are included
in Appendix B.
4.5. RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLE ANALYSIS
A total of four grab ground water samples were submitted to DTSC-certified laboratories for
analysis. TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from B-1, B-2, B-3, and B-4 at
concentrations as high as 16,000 parts per billion(ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) in sample
B-1. TPH-mo was detected in sample B-2 as high as 110,000 ppb.
Utilizing EPA Method 8020, BTEX compounds were detected at concentrations as high as 1,400
ppb in grab ground water samples collected from'B-I.
Utilizing EPA Method 8260, MTBE and tert-Butanol were detected in grab ground water samples
collected from B-4 at concentrations as high as 19 ppb and 80 ppb, respectively. .
• Utilizing EPA Method 8010, 1, 2-dichloroethane was detected in grab ground water sample B-4 at
concentrations as high as 0.59 ug/l. The analytical results of water samples are summarized in Table
L.The laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B.
5.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on data collected during the 05 February 1999 soil probe borings, and grab 'ground water
sampling, AGE concludes:
• Field observations, OVM readings, and laboratory analysis indicate that the most intense
hydrocarbon impact in soil is in the area of borings B-2-20.25' and B-4-20'.
• Laboratory analysis of the grab ground water samples indicate that the highest concentrations
of TPH-g is in the vicinity of former USTs No. 2 and No. 1. Based on the evidence,UST No.
2 and/or No. 1are the primary source of the hydrocarbon release.
• Results of analysis indicate the'presence of diesel range compounds detected in grab ground
water samples from B-I and B-2. Based on the analytical data it is possible that UST No. 1
or No. 2 formerly contained diesel fuel.
Advanced GcoEnvironmenlal,Inc.
