MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING
If results of the initial soil and ground water investigation indicate significant petroleum hydrocarbon
impacts to ground water, three ground water monitoring wells will be installed at the site. Proposed
' locations for monitoring wells will be submitted to the PHS-EHD for approval prior to installation.
The proposed monitoring.wells will provide repeatable sampling points for the monitoring of
impacts to ground water and allow determination of site-specific ground water flow direction.'The
tprocedures for monitoring well installation and collection of soil and ground water samples are.
presented in Section 3.4 and Section 3:6, respectively. Monitoring well installation activities are
described below.
2.4.1. Permitting and Pre-Field Work Activities
Prior to monitoring well installation, any applicable well permits will be obtained, from the
' PHS-EHD. Prior to mobilization, each soil probe location will be clearly marked and an utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
' 2.4.2. Soil Sample Collection and Analysis
' During the drilling of the proposed monitoring well borings, soil samples will be'collected at five-
foot intervals from ground surface to the total depth of the borings. Field procedures for the
collection of soil samples in presented in Section 3.4. At least on soil sample from each monitoring
' well boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
' • TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030•
' • BTEX by EPA Method 8020; and
• Oxygenating compounds including MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME by EPA Method
8260.
Laboratory reports for ground water analyses, testing methods, Iaboratory quality assurance/quality
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
