  4

rte .,,
'r
z
SHERWOOD LASS CORPORATION
Quality Control Program
Page : 3
c. 10% of all samples analyzed are standards. Reproducibility
of equivalent atandards for a sample batch is maintained
within +/- 10% of the initial standard injection value.
Failure to meet this requirement will result in the re-
running of the affected sample batch.
d. 10% of all samples shall be chosen at random for
preparation as matrix spike/matrix spike duplicates.
Spiked samples are included with the associated sample
}
batch or within 24 hours of analyzing the original samples.
Recoveries for all spike samples are tabulated to determine
average (R) and the standard deviation (STD) determined
j using the results of at least 30 analyses. Recoveries are
matrix dependent. Acceptable recovery limits are
established for each matrix of interest and are based on
R +/- 3 STD for establishing control limits (UCL and LCL ) .
e. All samples and blanks are spiked with a compound(s) other
than the analytefs) of interest to monitor the analytical
procedure. Recoveries are determined and accounted for
when the analytical data is compiled.
3. COLUMN PERFORMANCE
New columns are qualified by evaluating standard solutions
supplied by equipment and column manufacturers and calibration
and control standards prepared in the laboratory. An ongoing
program for evaluation of column performance includes
monitoring of the following parameters:
a. Fabulation of standard peaks(s) retention times (windows).
b. Visual monitoring of standards for evalua =nn of peak(s)
resolution.
G
In the event that problems are detected than can be related. to
the column the integrity of other instrument components
including detector response, instrument gases and fittings are
y examined. Failure to identify a problem with these other
areas will result in the replacement of the column and
initiation of the column qualification scheme.
Y
