01 February 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0521
Page 4of6
• Fuel additives di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE), methyl tertiary-
, buty ether (MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA),
1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260B.
3.0. FINDINGS
The ground water flow direction and gradient were inferred from the field data. Dissolved petroleum
hydrocarbon-impact to ground water was quantified by laboratory analysis of the samples collected.
3.1. ANALYTICAL. RESULTS OF EXTRACTION WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g and TRPH were detected in the influent sample collected at concentrations of 200
micrograms per liter (µg/1) and 1,700 pg/l, respectively. Benzene and MTBE were detected at
concentrations of 7.4 µg/1 and 160 ltg/l, respectively. Zinc was detected in the influent sample at a
concentration of 0.074 mg/l.
No contaminants of concern were detected in the effluent ground water treatment sample.Analytical
results from the ground water extraction samples are summarized in Tables 2 and 3. The laboratory
report(CTEL Project No. CT214-0405151),duality assurance/quality control(QA/QC)reports and
chain of custody form are provided in Appendix D.GeoTracker confirmation pages of the submitted
laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) files are included in Appendix E.
3.2. GROUND WATER ELEVATION, FLOW DIRECTION AND GRADIENT
On 26 May 2004, the depth to ground water at the site ranged from 5.80 to 7.92 feet below the tops
of the well casings. The ground water elevations at the site ranged from 5.89 feet (MW-5) to 7.54
feet (MW-3) below mean sea level (MSL). The ground water flowed in a northeast trending ridge
with a limb flowing north-northeast at a gradient of 0.015 ft/ft and the other limb flowing east-
southeast at 0.011 ft/ft. Depth to water and ground water elevation are summarized in Table 1.
.. Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations.
3.3. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 are screened through first ground water; monitoring well
MW-5 is screened through a deeper water zone.
= Advanced GeoBnvironmental.Inc.
