AGE-NC-99-0570 <br /> IPage 2 of 4 <br /> Purged water was temporarily stored on-site in 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)- <br /> approved drums pending proper disposal Following purging, the depth to ground water was <br /> measured to ensure that a minimum of 80% well-volume recharge had been achieved prior to <br /> _ sampling <br /> 23 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> A water sample was collected from each well using dedicated, disposable plastic bailers <br /> I Immediately upon retrieval, samples were transferred into three 40-milliliter (ml) Environmental <br /> Protection Agency (EPA)-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials containing 0 5 ml <br /> 18% hydrochloric acid solution as a sample preservative, and into one 1-liter amber bottle with no <br /> Isample preservative <br /> At the request of the EHD,a ground water sample from the on-site domestic well was also collected <br /> and analyzed To ensure that formation water was being produced, water was allowed to run out of <br /> the well for approximately 20 minutes, which was long enough to automatically turn on the well <br /> Ipump Ground water was poured directly into the 40-m1 VOA vials and a 1-liter amber bottle from <br /> . a valve at the well head <br /> All samples were logged on a chain of custody form, stored in a chilled container, and transported <br /> under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department <br /> of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, for analysis Ground water samples were analyzed <br /> for the following <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) in <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and the oxygenated compounds <br /> di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), methyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane <br /> (EDB), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> c r <br /> I <br /> 3.0 FINDINGS <br /> Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on <br /> 26'October 2004, hydrocarbon impact to ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis of the <br /> ground water samples <br /> • <br /> IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> I <br />
