•1 1
18 June 2004
AGE-NC-99-0570
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 4,700 micrograms per liter
(µg/l) and 440 gg/l, respectively TPH-d was detected in sample MW-2 at concentration of
3,600 gg/l
BTEX compounds were detected at the following maximum concentrations in MW-2, benzene 7 6
pg/l, toluene 2 8 gg/l, ethyl-benzene 81 gg/l, total xylenes 132 µg/1 No other well had detectable
concentration of BTEX compounds
MTBE was detected in samples MW-2 and MW-3 at 18 gg/l and 110 gg/l, respectively
No other target analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in any of the samples
Laboratory results of water samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in
Table 2 The laboratory reports for the quarterly monitoring event (CTEL Laboratory ID No
2140102143) QA/QC reports and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix C
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the findings from this investigation, AGE draws the following conclusionsvkh41 <<
• Ground water flow direction was towards the north to northe from the former dispenser
area at a hydraulic gradient of 0 02 feet/feet This flow direction and gradient are similar to
previous monitoring events
• MTBE was detected in two ground water sampl s,with the highest dissolved concentration
occurring northeast of the dispenser area(MW2f MTBE concentrations in samples MW-2
and MW-3 were above the DHS'maximum containment level(MCL)of 13 gg/l for drinking
water A o4
• The benzene concentration detected in sample MW-2 is above the DHS' MCL of 1 0 gg/l
for drinking water
• Concentrations of TPH-g and MTBE increased in wells MW-2 and MW-3 compared to the
previous sampling event, TPH-d and BTEX concentrations also increased in MW-2 While
TPH-g remained below reporting limits for the second consecutive sampling event in MW-1
and decreased to below reporting limits in MW-4, MTBE concentrations in both wells
MW-1 and MW-4 decreased to below reporting limits this quarter
• Advanced GeoEnVlronmental,Inc
