1
ARCADIS Mr.Walter Hanley
December 23,2005
Two discrete soil samples were collected from each boring,in.accordance with
accepted sampling procedures using brass liners,TeflonTM sheet end-sealing,
labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures. The depths of sample collection for each
boring were as follows:
Soil Boring Soil Sample De the feet b s
SB-1 12 19
SB-2 15 23
SB-3 13 1.9
Following the advancement of the soil borings, ARCADIS collected grab
groundwater samples from each borehole.Temporary l'-inch PVC casings were
inserted into the open boreholes to allow for the collection of grab groundwater
samples. The casings were slotted from the bottom of the well to approximately five
feet above the first encountered groundwater, based on the lithology observed during
the boring advancement. The grab groundwater samples were collected using new
disposable bailers in accordance with accepted sampling procedures including using
laboratory-provided United States Environmental Protection Agency(USEPA)-
approved containers, labeling, and appropriate chain-of-custody documentation.
Grab groundwater and soil samples were placed on ice.and transported to Curtis&
Tompkins,Ltd.,a California State-certified analytical laboratory under appropriate
chain-of-custody documentation.
Soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbon.as Diesel(TPH-d)by USEPA Method 8015;
■ TPH as Gasoline(TPH-g); Benzene,Toluene,Ethylbenzene,and Xylene
(BTEX); and Methyl Tert Butyl Ether(MTBE)and other oxygenates by
USEPA Method 8260;and
■ California LUFT(Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks)Metals by USEPA
Method 6010B.
Drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to the initial borehole advancement and
between each borehole location. The soil core samplers were also cleaned between
each sample with laboratory-grade detergent and potable water.
