c.
ARCADIS Mr.Walter Hanley
December 23, 2005
the boreholes, rinse waters and detergent were contained in 55-gallon drums along
with all residual soil cuttings and sample liners. The drums were left on site-pending
analytical results. Upon completion of the field activities, the boreholes were
properly abandoned by backfilling with a cement/grout/bentonite.mixture under the
observation of Mr. Harlin Knoll from the SJCEH.D.
Results
Analytical results of the soil and grab groundwater samples from the three temporary
borings(SB-.I, SB-2,and SB-3)were compared to the following regulatory
standards:
• 2004 USEPA-listed Primary Remediation Goals(PRGs)for Industrial Soil and
• 2005 California-listed Maximum Contaminant Levels(MCLS)for
groundwater.
TPH-d,TPH-g, isopropyl ether(DIPE), cadmium,chromium,lead,nickel, and zinc
were detected in the soil and/or groundwater samples. The analytical results and
regulatory standards aresummarized on Table 1, and TPH-d results for soil are
presented on Figure 2,and TPH-d,TPH-g,BTEX,and oxygenates in groundwater
are presented on 3. The analytic results are summarized as follows:
■ TPH-d was detected in all soil and groundwater samples, except the soil
sample collected from boring SB-2 at 23 feet bgs.The maximum
concentration detected in soil was 150 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg) from
boring SB-1 at 19 feet bgs.The maximum concentration detected in
groundwater was 19,000µg/L from boring SB-3. Currently,an industrial PRG
or MCL for TPH-d have not been established.
■ TPH-g was only detected at 64µg/L in the groundwater sample collected from
boring SB-1.Currently,a MCL for TPH-g has not been established.
■ DIPE was detected at 54,ug/L in the groundwater samples collected from
borings SB-2 and SB-I Currently,a MCL for DIPE has not been established.
■ Chromium was detected in all, soil and groundwater samples. The maximum
concentration detected in soil was from boring SB-3 at 19 feet bgs at a
concentration of 41 mg/kg,.below the industrial PRG(450 mg/kg).The
g1projects-active\lkq stockton\phase ii12059 navy drive site inv.doc 5/8
