' August lb, 1994
92-1177103 80
NORCAL Waste Systems, Inc
Attention Mr Larry Sweetser, Director of Regulatory Affairs
Subject REPORT - Ouarterly Groundwater Monitoring - July 1994
' Stockton Scavenger Association Facility
-- 1240 Navy Drive
Stockton, California
' Page 2
forms from the three previous monitoring rounds requested by Ms Diane Hinson, Supervising
Environmental Health Specialist for San Joaquin County
Groundwater samples were collected using disposable Teflon bailers at wells MW-1,
' MW-3, and MW-4 and by using a dedicated bladder pump in well MW-2 The samples were
submitted under Cham-of-Custody protocol to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (McCampbell), of
Pacheco, California McCampbell is a California-certified laboratory
Laboratory Analysis
Groundwater samples were analyzed for
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel by Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) Method 8015M,
e TPH as gasoline by EPA Method 8015, and
■ Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020
' Analytical Results
BTEX and TPH as diesel and gasoline were detected above their respective method
' detection limits in well MW-2, and TPH as diesel was detected in well MW-3 No other
detections were reported by McCampbell in the monitoring wells during this sampling round
Analytical results are summarized in Table 2 Copies of the laboratory report and Chain-of-
Custody record are attached
Evaluation
Based upon interpreted potentiometnc groundwater surfaces at the site, groundwater
continues to flow toward the northeast Ongoing groundwater pumping at monitoring well
' MW-2 apparently has not significantly altered the groundwater flow patterns at the site The
potentiometric groundwater surface as of July 1994 is shown in Drawing 3
' Review of the analytical data indicates that there is no apparent change in the
groundwater quality underlying the site dunng this monitoring period as compared with the
previous monitoring period Reported concentration levels of BTEX and TPH as diesel and
gasoline in July 1994 are of the same order of magnitude as reported in April 1994
