2059 Navy, Stockton
Page.2
TPH-d contamination. Further investigation to determine the vertical and lateral
extent of soil and groundwater contamination must be conducted and the
necessity of remedial action evaluated.
Soil contamination was documented at 13.5 feet bgs at the time of the UST
system removal in 1995 so collection and analysis of soil samples below this
depth must be performed to investigate the vertical extent of the soil
contamination. Since depth to groundwater is shallow and the grab groundwater
sample collected on 20 February 2004 had TPH-d contamination, a groundwater
investigation is required.
In addition since the grab water sample indicates that groundwater has been
contaminated a sensitive receptor survey, identifying wells within a 2000 foot
radius of the site, must be conducted. Contact the Department of Water
Resources and search the area to-locate the wells. Submit the result of the
survey, which includes a map showing the location of the identified wells, the
addresses where the wells are located and any known construction details of the
wells to EHD.
By 14 March 2005, please submit a work plan to define the vertical and Lateral
extent of soil and groundwater contamination caused by the unauthorized
release, and the sensitive receptor survey.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at
(209) 468-3442.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Margare agodo, RE S
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
cc: CVRWQCB — Jim Barton .
cc: SWRCB, Cleanup Fund
cc: H2OGEOL
cc: Ron Barber
