16 February 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0534
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-d and TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.4. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the soil removal activities. The report will include a description of the
work performed and the results of the sampling and analysis. Conclusions and applicable
recommendations will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the
PHS-EHD and CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist.Procedures for soil excavation, soil sampling, and equipment decontamination
are outlined below.
4.1. SOIL EXCAVATION PROCEDURES
Soil will be excavated using a backhoe. Soil will be placed on plastic and sampled. Excavated soil
will be field screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an OVM. Based on
OVM readings and field observations, excavated soil will be segregated into clean soil (if
appropriate) and impacted soil.
The vertical Iimit of the excavation will be fifteen feet bsg. While the lateral limits of the excavation
will be determined by the excavation proceedings. The maximum dimensions of either excavation
will not exceed ten feet in either direction, unless the vertical extent of the contamination has been
determined and the lateral extent is more extensive then vertical extent.
The open excavation area will be backfilled with clean fill.No AGE or subcontractor personnel will
Advanced CcoEnvironmental,Inc.
