Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) method 8010 for halogenated volatile organic compounds
(HVOCs); and,
• Prepare a letter report of the findings.
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
SAMPLE LOCATIONS
Three hand auger sample locations were selected prior to conducting field work. The boring
locations are shown on Figure 2 - Sample Location Map,and photographs of sampling activities are
provided at the end of this report.
The borings were positioned based on the following criteria.
• Position the borings in areas where PCE is handled or transferred, and where a material
suspected of being waste PCE was observed.
• Avoid potential subsurface utilities (if possible).
SOIL SAMPLING
Three soil borings (SB-1, SB-2, and SB-3)were installed inside, and immediately outside the rear
door, of the Property building (Figure 2) using a hand auger
and a hand held soil sampler. The three borings were expected to extend
to a depth of five feet beneath ground surface (bgs); however,
subsurface soil conditions inhibited augering beyond a depth 10-Fb a s l de 1 iN A
of approximately 2 '/2 feet below ground surface. "ss&r°'r - _— -
Soil samples were collected at a depth of approximately 2 '/2
feet bgs using a hand held soil sampler. The soil sampler
consists of one 6-inch long by 2-inch diameter stainless steel
3 FW Ext ersi m Pod
sleeve attached to a 10-pound slide-hammer assembly, as Added Fire
shown in the accompanying diagram.
