Work Plan March 5, 1990
Proposed Unocal Station, Stockton, California AGS 30010-1W
PROPOSED WORK
To evaluate the soil and ground water for selected contaminants beneath the proposed site,
Applied GeoSystems will:
o Prepare a site safety plan.
o Obtain a drilling and well installation permit from the SJPHS which is
enclosed with this letter.
o Contact Underground Service Alert at least 48 hours before drilling to identify
public utility lines at the site.
o Drill five borings to a depth of 50 feet or until ground water is encountered,
whichever comes first.
o Collect relatively undisturbed soil samples from each boring at 5-foot or other
appropriate intervals from the ground surface to the total boring depth and
classify the samples according to the Unified Soil Classification System.
o Collect ground-water samples for laboratory analyses from each boring
through a well point.
o Submit selected soil samples and water samples to a State-certified laboratory
for the analyses described in the laboratory analyses section of this work plan.
o Collect four discrete soil samples from the stockpiled drill cuttings to be
composited into one sample for analyses to evaluate disposal options.
o Backfill borings with a slurry of cement, bentonite, and water.
o Prepare a report summarizing our findings and conclusions.
5
Applied GeoSystems
