Work Plan March 5, 1990
Proposed Unocal Station, Stockton, California AGS 30010-1W
field geologist and will accompany the soil samples to the laboratory. An example of the
Chain of Custody Record is also included in the appendix.
Disposal of Soil Cuttings
Soil cuttings generated during drilling will be stored onsite and covered with plastic
sheeting. If possible, drill cuttings exhibiting subjective evidence of hydrocarbon
contamination or producing a positive response on the PID will be separated from those
drill cuttings evaluated as having no hydrocarbon contamination. Four discrete soil samples
will be collected, composited into one sample at the laboratory, and analyzed for
appropriate contaminants to evaluate the disposal options.
If laboratory analyses of the drill cuttings indicate no contamination, the soil will remain
onsite. If contamination is detected in the drill cuttings, they will be transported to an
appropriate facility for disposal.
Collection of Water Samples
At the request of Unocal, we will collect ground-water samples for laboratory analyses from
each boring through a well point. We will use a 2-inch-inner-diameter, clean, continuously-
wrapped stainless-steel well point with 0.020-inch-wide slots screwed to the appropriate
8
Applied GeoSysteinS
