Mariposa Road, Escalon, California <br /> Apex Project No. WIL02.003 <br /> Dear Mr. Backus: <br /> Apex Envirotech, Inc. (Apex) has been authorized by Williams Tank Lines, Inc. (Williams) to <br /> provide this results report documenting field activities associated with the petroleum tanker spill <br /> that occurred on August 31, 2013. This report details sampling and excavation activities and <br /> presents analytical results for soil samples collected at the subject site (Figures 1 and 2). All <br /> work described herein was conducted according to the Apex standard operating procedures <br /> included as Appendix A. <br /> This report is based in part, on information obtained by Apex from Williams, and is subject to <br /> modification as newly acquired information may warrant. <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The excavation site is located in front of the residence at 22934 E. Mariposa Road, Escalon in <br /> San Joaquin County, California. The location of the spill is utilized as a shoulder for the east <br /> bound traffic on E. Mariposa Road and the open pasture is utilized for horse grazing. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On August 31, 2013, a Williams tanker truck carrying approximately 8,000 gallons of unleaded <br /> gasoline fuel was traveling eastbound on E. Mariposa Road and left the traveled roadway after <br /> being struck by another vehicle. The tanker, immediately caught fire and burned until fire <br /> fighters could extinguish the tanker.
