Shell operated two pipelines which carried crude oil
from the Central Valley to the Bay Area. These lines were reportedly removed from the
property during the 1960s. The pipelines ran in a northwest-southeast direction through
farmed properties. This work plan was prepared in response to a letter from the Regional
Water Quality Control Board(RWQCB)dated April 18,2008, which requested
additional groundwater delineation and has been included as Attachment A.
SITE BACKGROUND
An approximately 5,200-foot lineal section of the pipeline route crossed the northeastern
corner of Parcel 209-450-02, the northeastern portion of Parcel 209-450-04, the north and
central portions of Parcel 209-450-11,the central portion of Parcel 209-450-12, and the
southwestern portion of Parcel 209-450-13 (the site),which is located north of Grant Line
Road and west of Mountain House Parkway, in Mountain House, California(Figure 1).
The route consisted of two pipelines in the area, one 8-inch diameter and one 10-inch
diameter, that carried crude oil from the central valley to the Bay Area. These former
pipelines ran through farmed properties and were reportedly removed from operation
during the 1960's.
