1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This Site Safety and Health Plan(SSHP) describes the procedures that shall be followed <br /> to protect the health and safety of employees engaged in additional field work at the <br /> former Shell Oil Company Crude Oil pipelines, at Parcels 209-450-04, 11, 12, 13 and <br /> 209-060-08 in San Joaquin County, Tracy, California. <br /> This SSHP has been developed to comply with applicable federal, state,and local health <br /> and safety requirements including California Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Administration's (Cal-OSHA)requirements contained in Title 8 of the California Code of <br /> Regulations, Section 5192 (8 CCR 5192) and federal OSHA requirements contained in <br /> Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 1910.120 (29 CFR 1910.120). <br /> The observance and practice of the health and safety procedures specified in this plan, <br /> and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations,pertaining to health <br /> and safety, are mandatory for all personnel and visitors. In the event of conflicting <br /> requirements, the procedures that provide the highest degree of required personal <br /> protection shall be implemented. <br /> A copy of the site SSHP shall be kept onsite and made available for inspection and <br /> review by employees, clients, agency personnel, and other visitors. <br /> 2.0 WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> The following is a brief description of the work activities to be performed at the site. <br /> Clayton will supervise all subcontractors whom will be involved in the tasks associated <br /> with the completion of soil borings and trenching activities. Clayton personnel will <br /> perform associated tasks, including but not limited to, identifying the former pipeline <br /> alignment with a backhoe via trenching, screening of soil data and collecting soil and <br /> groundwater samples. <br /> 3.0 ONSITE ORGANIZATION <br /> Each person at the site shall be responsible for following the guidelines outlined in this <br /> SSHP. The site safety officer is Mr. Craig Pelletier(or other person designated by <br /> Clayton).
